Gaeddert Farms Sunflower Festival 

Another flower field in Wichita, KS can be found at the aptly-named Sunflower Festival that takes place at Gaeddert Farms in Buhler toward the end of the summer. (Official dates for this year's festival are not yet finalized, but it is likely to begin in the last week of August.)  

For $10, visitors can walk through 20 acres and view roughly 600,000 sunflowers in full bloom to make memories and take photos with various fun props. Visitors can also find entertainment in the sand volleyball pit, with lawn games, and at other attractions arranged as part of the festival.  

The festival is one of many events that espouse the power of the sunflower, including the 6th-Annual Sunflower Trail Run 5k & 1 Mile that takes place on August 23, a Sunflower Craft Market that opens on August 30, and Sunflower painting classes. 

Bramble's Edge Farm 

Bramble's Edge Farm is an eight-acre farm in the Rose Hill area where visitors can pose and frolic among gorgeous flower fields. The seasonal flower beds make a great backdrop for amateur and professional photoshoots. (Bramble's Edge does not provide on-site photography services, so you'll have to bring your own photographer.)  

Customers can also create multi-colored bouquets with their own choice of you-pick flowers sourced from the farm. Flower fields aren't the only reason to visit Bramble's Edge. They also run a market where you can pick up farm-fresh eggs, produce, and other locally-made products.  

Elderslie Farm 

 Situated in the Kechi suburb of Wichita, KS, on East 101st Street. is Elderslie Farm. This farm allows visitors to walk through their flower patch and make their own bouquets of you-pick flowers. Bouquets can feature a variety of flowers such as sunflowers, zinnias, and snapdragons in an attractive range of colors.  

Flower picking is available on a first-come, first-served basis on Wednesday through Saturday while their seasonal outdoor Bramble Cafe is open. Those planning a weekend excursion can also reserve a seat at Elderslie, the chef-led on-site restaurant that serves dinner only on Fridays and Saturdays. Expect a fresh, unique menu that complements the natural beauty of the flower field. During the summer, guests at Elderslie Farm can also pick blackberries straight off the brambles!   

Windy Hill Farm 

Windy Hill Farm is a 5-acre farm just a few minutes west of Wichita in Goddard, KS. Its fields are brimming with tulips, daylilies, peonies, and other beautiful flowers throughout the growing season. You can admire the flowers where they grow or use them to make your own bouquets. The farm also sells farm-fresh eggs from free-range chickens, in-season produce, and honey products.  

Beyond Local Flower Fields and Farms 

Flower fields aren't the only place where you can partake in some pleasant plant life. Botanica has earned its reputation as one of the best botanical gardens in the US, presenting horticultural exhibitions featuring over 4,000 species of plants across 20 acres of curated garden space in the Riverside neighborhood of downtown Wichita.
