Guide to the Best Wichita Restaurants with Patios and Outdoor Seating

Wichita has beautiful weather throughout most of the year. This makes patio dining a natural part of our local culture. Many of our restaurants provide the option to enjoy your meal at an outdoor table, basking in the Kansas sunshine, or in the shade under artful awnings. Everywhere you look, there are little sidewalk terraces with a half-dozen tables, but we also have a few restaurants that really stand out when it comes to patio dining.
The perfect Wichita restaurants with patio dining all have a few signature features: plenty of space, aesthetic outdoor design, and of course great food and service to make your experience complete. Whether you're enjoying a sun-dappled breakfast, a relaxing lunch, or a terrace dinner in the cool evening breeze, you'll find some amazing outdoor restaurant experiences here in Wichita.
Here are some of the best Wichita restaurants with patios and outdoor seating.

The Belmont

  • Open-Air Restaurant
  • Local farm-to-table ingredients
  • Signature cocktails
The Belmont is legendary for dining in the warm summer air. The entire restaurant opens up its windowed walls to the terrace, creating a seamless indoor-outdoor dining experience. You can request a table under an umbrella on the outdoor patio or snag a seat near one of the open walls for the perfect combination of relaxing shade and a fresh breeze to enrich your meal.
What kind of meal? The Belmont is known for its upscale and thoughtfully sourced menu of light appetizers and entrees paired with artistic cocktails. They serve a delectable brunch, classy snacks, artistic salads, and gourmet entrees, all sourced from local farms for that authentic Wichita farm-to-table experience.

Felipe's Mexican Restaurant

  • 50+ year old family-owned restaurant
  • Award-winning Mexican food
  • Beautiful waterside patio dining
If you want to dine by the waterside with a breathtaking view of Meadows Park, head to Felipe's for the best Mexican food in Wichita. Felipe's has been a cornerstone of the Wichita restaurant scene for over 50 years. Founded by Felipe and Lucy Lujano in 1967, Felipe's has been voted the best Mexican restaurant in Wichita more than once.
With fresh ingredients and a menu that just doesn't quit, you'll keep coming back, but not just for the meals. The patio dining at Felipe's is absolutely gorgeous with an arced concrete terrace overlooking one of the largest ponds of Meadows Park and the park on the far shore. You'll love dining by the glittering water as you sip margaritas and eat delicious tacos, fajitas, enchiladas, or their signature, The Flaming Cazuela.

Pumphouse

  • Historic filling station in Old Town Wichita
  • Family-owned and operated
  • Spacious patio dining

The Pumphouse is a casual bistro-style restaurant known for good beer, good casual food, and a great garden-style restaurant patio. The unique name was inherited from the building, an ancient filling station located in Wichita's historic Old Town district. The filling station was established in 1931 as a downtown filling and service station, now serving as one of Wichita's best bar & grill restaurants.

Pumphouse is family-owned and operated and caters to Wichita's love of casual comfort food. You will find hearty burgers and sandwiches, giant onion rings, handmade pizzas, crispy chicken, and a lot of good beer. The restaurant patio is spacious, with umbrella tables and outdoor couches surrounding fire-pit tables. Dine among old-timey filling pumps and watch the game on the outdoor screen. There might even be live music, and when the weather's nice, they roll up the old garage doors for a seamless indoor-outdoor experience.

FioRito Ristorante

  • Local favorite restaurant
  • Covered outdoor patio
  • Fresh and diverse menu

FioRito is one of Wichita's favorite Italian restaurants and for good reason. Their exquisite dishes and attention to detail is unparalleled. They hold regular community events, and the menu, while Italian at its roots, is delightfully fusion with additional specialties like Falafel and salsa.  They also feature vegan and gluten-free options so there's something for everyone.

The restaurant patio is simple yet welcoming, shaded by an illuminated overhead awning with relaxing outdoor couches in the far corners. Each table is comfortable, and FioRito's is often the first place a local Wichita resident will suggest when you ask about good restaurants with a patio nearby.

Chester's Chophouse & Wine Bar

  • Upscale steak and wine restaurant
  • 1000-bottle wine cellar
  • Waterside terrace and outdoor fireplace

Steak, seafood, cigars, and a beautiful drink menu all enhance the experience of charming patio dining at Chester's Chophouse & Wine Bar. The patio at Chester's is defined by crisp red brick and columns of colorful inlaid river stones. At one end is a glorious outdoor fireplace that warms the patio in chilly weather. The patio itself overlooks the northern banks of Beech Lake for another glittering waterside dining experience.

While the interior is dark and cozy with polished wood and deeply padded booths to create an exquisitely comfortable upscale vibe, the patio beckons for everyone who loves fresh air and a wonderful view with their vintage wine and perfectly cooked steaks. They are also well-known for their 1000-bottle wine cellar to ensure every evening has the perfect vintage.
